Sunday on the Bridge

Sunday is the traditional day for a walk across Brooklyn Bridge. Rachel went all arty and took some sepia shots. Just as we were getting to the Manhattan side, we had a minor bathroom panic but resolved the situation by getting Sam to pee in the snow outside City Hall. Which attracted the attention of a bored cop. "You could always go down to the subway station and ask to use their bathroom." What planet was she from? Rachel, as any self-respecting Brooklyn mother would, argued the toss, but decided a lecture was better than a ticket.

Camera Shy?

A new site

Since moving to New York, we have kept a website here. But a website is just sooooo 2002, don't you agree? Here in Park Slope, Brooklyn everyone has a blog. Well, almost everyone - here's one by the woman next door that keeps everyone up to date with what's going on in the neighbourhood. As David Brooks put it in the New York Times on Sunday, in the playgrounds around here, infants are compelled to wear t-shirts that say, "My Mom's Blog is Better Than Your Mom's Blog."

As everyone who knows us will testify, there is no trend that the Nicholls family will not happily join, just as it is beginning to wane (expect us to be into MySpace in about 2011). So here's our blog. We're not going to compete with the woman next door. Our blog is designed to keep you up to date with what we are doing, see photos and video links of the children and give us a new toy to play with. Comments are welcome, especially ones that say, "What a fantastic blog, you guys are so talented!"
