The final part, and the end is in sight at last. Sydney, Alin, and Noemie join Hannah in trying to prevent Sam wolfing down the entire birthday cake.

Part 3 of the birthday festival featured one very special guest: Lucas! On Saturday morning Lucas came out for brunch with us to Dizzy's, a Park Slope diner. The children all had waffles, pastries with strawberry butter, and pink lemonade or juice. Later there was playground fun and a very unsuccessful attempt to make balloon animals.

In keeping with local tradition, Hannah took cupcakes to school on her birthday. They were homemade banana-chocolate cupcakes, but they had no icing. When asked by his Mum how the cupcakes tasted, Hannah's friend Sam Craig looked rather downcast as he said, "Hannah's Mum made a healthy choice."
