Sam recently rediscovered the headband that Nana and Grandpa bought for him, and wore it to school a few times. Kristen was impressed and told him that she had a headband with matching wristbands that he could have. Even better was that they were in one of his favourite colours: bright yellow. Can we get them off him? No way. He wears them to school every day. He cuts a dash on the soccer pitch wearing them. He wanted to wear them in the bath. Here he is sleeping in them. He is also in his new sleeping bag, which he is trying out in preparation for the road trip.

Snow! At last!

Just when we were beginning to think the sled wouldn't be used this winter, New York received a good dump of snow. Off to Prospect Park!

Hannah loves snow and loves sledding. She stayed in the park for two hours, and came home cold, tired, and very happy.

Year of the Rat

Every Chinese New Year we go to Chinatown to watch the dragons dance. We tell the children that it is good to celebrate different cultures, to see how other people live, to watch traditional dance. The children know that if they can put up with all that, there will be the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory! Fifty different flavours!
