We were staying near the Tower and on New Year's Eve woke the kids up at ten to midnight so that they could see what we assured them would be a fantastic fireworks display. Hah! A few coloured lights came and on and off and then everyone went back to being French. "C'est la vie," we told the kids. Hannah refused to look at the Tower again for the rest of our stay.
