Las Vegas

We are staying at the hotel/casino called Circus Circus. It is meant to be the most child-friendly place on the strip. What that actually means is that it has the whole of the Coney Island boardwalk (or Brighton Pier) under one roof. We were overwhelmed by the noise, the crowds, and the number of rides and games for the children. Rachel called it "Hell on Earth," but I'm sure she didn't mean it. If she stayed here for a couple of weeks, I'm sure she would be able to see the charms of the place. There are a couple of thousand poker machines too!

Sam wanted to try and be the strong man and ring the bell at the top of the tower. He was full of confidence until he realized that the hammer was a little heavy. He struggled manfully and reached three-quarters of the way up. The man in charge gave him a stuffed grasshopper in honour of his efforts.

Hannah rode the Rim Ride and then won a stuffed fish when she burst a balloon with a dart. Here are the children with their prizes in the garish light.
