Day 9. Zion National Park

Just when we were beginning to approach canyon-fatigue, we went to Zion National Park. Maybe it was because we were at the bottom of the canyon rather than the top, or maybe it was because Hannah was trying to fill in a workbook to become a Junior Ranger, but we enjoyed Zion more than any of the other national parks that we had visited. The weather was beautiful and the scenery gorgeous. We went for a walk down the Virgin River and the children got their feet wet in the water.

Hannah completed all of the activities in the workbook and was sworn in as a Junior Ranger. She also had to swear to enjoy pizza and ice cream - she had no problem with that part.

Zion features the largest sandstone cliffs and the tallest monolith in the world. The biggest monolith by volume is Uluru.

There's no such thing as too many canyons! Especially when you're a Jnr Ranger. You'll be reading Edward Abbey's "The Monkey Wrench Gang" before you know it...
